Wedding Photography

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer you should know that I’m a reportage wedding photographer. Also, known as a documentary wedding photographer, or wedding photojournalist. It came as a bit of a surprise to me that that was what I am, but you can find out more about my approach on “My Approach” page… when I’ve written it.Although I’ve been a photographer for many years, and a freelance professional for three I’d avoided weddings on the advice of fellow professionals who assured me it was a fraught and stressful experience. And I believed them.

Besides, I’m not into getting people to run and jump in the air or otherwise pretend they’re having fun – it’s just not me and I suspect (secretly) it’s not you either. Let’s face it, you want to enjoy your big day, and not have the fun prompted and posed out of you and your guests.

So what made me change my mind about wedding photography?

An ex-professional photographer and friend of mine asked me to assist at the wedding of a friend of his. And it was really only as a favour to him that I did my first wedding. Mind you, I did explain that I would only be doing reportage style shots i.e. candid shots that capture the real moments and emotions of the day and when put together tells the true story of your wedding day.

Of course I did the group shots, as most if not all families want to make a record of who was there, but I will always try to ensure that this takes up as little time as possible… for the enjoyment of all your guests!

I’m very happy to say, on return from their honeymoon the couple were delighted with their photographs… and a wedding photographer was born.
